About Us

Welcome to Westwind Guide Service which is owned and operated by Alaska Master Guide Tony Lee.

In 1969 Tony Lee came to Alaska with the goal of having one of the top guiding outfits in the state. After learning to fly in 1972 and later purchasing a Supercub, he "paid his dues" as an Assistant Guide, then in 1979 as Licensed Registered Guide #498, and now as Master Guide #105, started Westwind Guide Service. With 110% effort he has realized his goal and has many satisfied guests with Record Class Trophies.

Hunts for Brown Bear, Grizzly, Mulchatna Caribou and Black Bear are conducted in Western Alaska Unit 17 and 19, and all of the game populations are on the increase in this region.

The spring bear seasons have been extended to 45 days or more, Mulchatna caribou have a 2 bulls non-resident limit and the Holitna and Nushagak drainages have one of the largest populations of moose in the state.

For many years now by taking a limited number of hunters we have maintained 100% success on caribou, 95% on moose and 85% on bears.

Our caribou have been among some of the largest taken in Alaska with scores of 552 points, 531 points, 527 points, and 505 points SCI score. We also have the distinction of one of our guests taking the new #1 Pope & Young Velvet Category Caribou (439 B&C points) and also the new #1 SCI Velvet Category with a score of 530 points.

Our moose often make the record book, many with spreads over 65 inches and a few over 70 inches. We have taken a couple of bears over 10 ft and a few over 9 ft, but most are in the 8 - 8 1/2 ft range. Our Black Bears are regularly over 7 ft.
